‘5’ Five Site-Specific Events Feb. 13 to Mar. 13, 2010.
Happened on five Saturdays during the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. 5 unique productions took the public on extraordinary journeys thru real, invented, and imagined places. The always surprising PAUL WONG and dozens of Guest Artists engaged this city in what was a spectacular series. Five 5-hour events as in the 5 Olympics rings, 5 senses, 5 moments, 5 colours, 5 encounters.
Produced by ON MAIN (On The Cutting Edge Production Society) onedge.tv. Commissioned by The City of Vancouver through its Olympic and Paralympic Public Art Program, as part of Mapping And Marking Artist-Initiated Projects for Vancouver 2010.
This virtual space functions as the online map for all 5 projects and as the post-event marker. Each event can also be experienced virtually at anytime. See interactive maps for video clips of the works and documentation of the events.
The 5 site was launched for the 5.1 webcast which aired from 5pm-10pm on Feb.13. Using mobile media technologies 5.1 saw a host of personalities deliver video blogs through live & pre-recorded materials linking broadcast and webcast mediums into a live stream.

One More Than Three – Mountain View Cemetery 5 - 10pm (Mar. 6, 2010)
Life, death and everything in between are constantly evolving. The idiom for death in Chinese is four. One More Than Three brought together light with dark, silence with sound, the living with the dead, and the 4 virtues: truth, bravery, non-violence and generosity. A powerful event, the modernist Celebration Hall and its surroundings were transformed into a reflective space where viewers encountered video art and memory.

Five Elements – SunYat-Sen Chinese Garden 5 - 10pm (Mar.13, 2010)
The 5 elements: earth, air, fire, water and metal, and the five senses: sight, sound, taste, touch and smell were inspirations for making use of this spectacular 16th century compound of gardens, courtyards, waterways and architectural features in the heart of Chinatown. The contemporary met the classical, the pictorial met the moving, the old met the new, and all elements were woven in this final sensory experience.
